As a long-time pet parent, I speak for every one of us when I say we'd do just about anything for our fur bbs. Karam recommends looking for blankets with features like waterproof or water-resistant, machine washable, and blankets large enough for your pup or kitty to sprawl out on.

“Look what the cat dragged in” is more than just a saying. Your pet will likely get fur, dirt, and drool all up on their new blanket. That being said, Karam recommends washing your little darling’s blanket once a week using fragrance and dye-free detergents. You can also skip out on the fabric softener and dryer sheets, adds Karam, since they can be v irritating on your pet’s skin.

You should keep an eye on your pet when introducing anything new to them, including blankets, Karam suggests. “A curious critter can get into all kinds of trouble,” she says. Regularly check for bite marks and remove the blanket if you notice your bb chewing and tearing at the fabric. This not-so-fun behavior can be brought on by stress (i.e. new environment, fireworks, other animals, etc.).
